There is another lunar eclipse on Tuesday, August 28. I believe this one will actually be visible from our area, as opposed to the last one which the West Coast missed out on.
I want to take a picture of it, with something interesting in the foreground, but I don't know what. Can you give me ideas?
*The city of Reno (ie, downtown)
*Mountains?
*Waterfall?
*Tahoe?
*The planetarium?
* The Black Rock Desert?
Help!

How about...
Yourself Or a person watching. Take the pic from behind them
How about a Cape Cod lighthouse?
I've always thought Delicate Arch in Moab, Utah would be a nice backdrop for a sky-shot.
What would be the opposite of a lunar eclipse? I'm trying to think of something that would contrast a blood, red moon at night. A coppery moon... it's night time and so...
Nevermind. I got nothing.
Oh wait... how about people who are totally oblivious to the amazing phenomenon?
Or how about a group of people cowering in fear?
How about both and you display them side by side?
Now all I need is recruits to pose for a photo at 3am. 3am is good for the view of the eclipse (high in the night sky), but bad for people being awake.
The moon will be in the south-west in the sky, so I can't have anything that requires me to face east.
I might try a composite image - a long exposure for city lights, or cars on a road, or just for contrast, and shorter exposures for the moon itself.
Fortunately, if I totally blow it, there's usually a couple eclipses per year. Unlike solar eclipses, when I have to wait about another decade before travelling to Missouri to see a total solar eclipse. I hope. That one will take some plans, and can be ruined by an inopportune cloud.
How about a Nevada ghost town like Belmont, Rawhide, Rhyolite, even Austin or VC, ect. There's potential for some really interesting and eerie photos?
The moon over the haunted schoolhouse in VC. That could be interesting...
I have to confess to not being fully aware of where the abandoned cities in Nevada are. But I think those are really good ideas.
They're all good, so for. Kepp 'em coming!
