The Controversy

Was the foul before the shot or not? At the moment that the player starts to shoot, the referee is already raising his hand. Given that it takes a second for one to decide to raise his hand, and for him to actually raise his hand; and given that the referee who called the foul did not count the basket - I think the final call is correct. But I'm biased.

Todd and I were watching the game and we agree with you. First, Session's steal was clean so that was a bad call. Then the foul was definitely before the shot. After the foul the Hawaii player had to pick up the ball off the floor, and then start the act of shooting.

Also, the Hawaii coach is off his rocker if he thinks the last shot went off before the lights were red.

His contention was not that it was not before the red light, but that the red light and game clock were not in synch.

The WAC posted a video from ESPN on its website to shut down that rumor-mongering once and for all.

Here's hoping that Nevada breaks into the Top Ten today.
