Global Domination

I really like this game. Except when I lose, unless I can think of a good excuse to comfort myself with. Among my roommate and our friends, I am expected to win each and every time. When I don't, it is reckoned a failure on my part. Which begs the question - why play? It is a no-win situation, right?

Dave,
Tim is the same way with scrabble. He's so much smarter then me when it comes to words and most smart things...but I have beat him every time we've ever played and he just gets soooo upset! Tim's not like that either. I feel for you and your friends that beat you unexpectadley - see I can't spell, I shouldn't win at scrabble! :) Hey I asked you a question on my blog. I need your help, check it out.

You know, I'm kinda a wordsmith. I pride myself of having a good vocabulary. Enter Susan who consistently beats me at Scrabble. It drives me nuts. I get ugly competitively to the point I've made her cry. Maybe that's why we don't play that often.

My recent gaming setback include a pair of utter defeats at RISK 2210, followed by a loss (my first, in several games with the same people) playing my other favorite board game, Settlers of Catan (though I was a solid #2).

Says my roommate after the defeat "Dave, you're losing your touch."

If I lose, the world ends. If I win (as I did in a game of Settlers last Thursday - quite handily, I add) then it is only as the world should be.

But if anyone ever wants to learn an interesting board game, I'm up for a game of Settlers of Catan. According to the rules, you must call the victor Lord of Catan. How wonderful is that?
