In each photo I have an idea for a tagline, something the photo is evocative of for me. In either case, the blog itself will probably be a more simple text layout.
I still really like the photos, and I like the text you've added. The only thing is I don't love the font on either one, particularly the 'italics' style. Of course, that last thing is just being picky.
I don' much like the second one because it reminds me of the frontal view of a freight train coming down the tracks. I like the first one more. But, hey, you don't know me, so whatever, dude!
Well, I've never had my silhouette compared to a freight train before but I suppose there's a first time for everything.
In all seriousness, though, I appreciate the comment.
One practical consideration is that the second image has a long profile, and so doesn't need to be as tall. The first image loses something the more you crop it down.
Oh gosh!! I totally didn't see that as a silhouette at all! Now I do see it, but it looks like your brains are spewing upward? Is that it or do I still not get it?? Seriously... I don't much like the moon and Venus in it either because it comes off as kind of new age. IMO, you should go with numero uno.
eh. i actually agree with the font issue. its very distracting to me. i'd say go with a more of a script font...or a more hard...bold font. and quite possibly with more letter space. i have no idea though i would probably try every font just because im like that. :)
i like the pictures though. especially the top one.
It is a silhouette, but it's a 24-second picture, and during the whole 24 seconds I was slowly walking in a straight line away from the camera, which makes for an interesting visual effect.
I tried several different fonts, and this was the first one I liked, because I was going for a softer feel than I got from the hard-edged fonts. But maybe I can achieve that in another way.
I suppose I really like the second picture mostly because I love the tagline. For me, the idea is that Heaven meets Earth in and through the lives of Christians. This is a strange, super-natural thing to believe. In the photo, I see the physical heavens, the dark earth, and me in between - clearly part of the latter, but blended with the former.
But I don't see it as new-agey because I see it as a visual metaphor. Personal opinion though, and I think you for offering yours.

*thank, not think. Type too fast, and proofread too poorly, I did.
ReplyDeleteSecond one, yo. For the reasons already stated.
ReplyDeleteAs far font, I like the face the title is in. What is it? The g's are interesting and you got two of them.
For the tag, I agree with Nichole (I think). Maybe take a look at handwriting fonts. Or a rounded sans-serif thing like Rounded Arial even.
